Meet Lachlan and his family
Lachlan and his family came to Anglicare’s St Hilary’s Morphett Vale emergency assistance site last year looking for hope. Lachlan’s mum and dad had hit hard times, and between food and bills they were finding it tough to provide Lachlan with his school necessities.
Lachlan dreaded facing his classmates - his uniform, his shoes, his school books were just ‘not the same’ as the other children’s and he felt like he didn’t fit in.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, our emergency assistance team was able to supply staple food items to immediately ease the burden of meals, and provide a voucher for a new pair of shoes for Lachlan.
Taking away the painful decision of how to make money stretch far enough to cater for all the family’s needs was so overwhelming it reduced Lachlan’s mum to tears.
Thanks to the local team at St Hilary’s, Lachlan was able to once again fit in with his classmates and regain his confidence at school.
